Tony (Skins series 1)

The first episode of the British drama *Skins*, titled "Tony," premiered on E4 in the United Kingdom on 25 January 2007. Bryan Elsley wrote the episode, and Paul Gay directed it. The story unfolds from the perspective of the main character, Tony Stonem.

The episode opens on a typical morning as Tony wakes up in his bedroom. He helps his younger sister, Effy, sneak into the house unnoticed by distracting their loud, angry father. Tony further provokes his father by locking him out of the bathroom and escaping through the window, leaving the door locked behind him.

Leaving for college, Tony calls his friends to arrange a night out aimed at helping his best friend, Sid, lose his virginity. Over breakfast at a café, Tony tells Sid they will get a girl intoxicated so she will sleep with him. Tony and his girlfriend Michelle inform Sid that he will be set up with Cassie, a girl recently discharged from a psychiatric hospital. Tony also asks Sid to pick up drugs from a dealer known as Mad Twatter.

Tony auditions for the city chamber choir and earns a spot. He then flirts with Abigail Stock, a private school student, and agrees to bring his friends to her house party. Meanwhile, most of his friends have other plans: Tony’s openly gay friend Maxxie is taking Chris and Anwar on a big night out. Learning from Chris that cannabis is available in Bristol, Tony tries to call Sid to cancel the drug purchase, but Sid’s phone is off. The dealer, Mad, bullies Sid into buying three ounces of weed instead of one and threatens him to sell it for profit.

The group arrives at Abigail’s party, where Sid meets Cassie. They are told to remove their shoes and not to smoke. Tony and Michelle find the wealthy, posh party dull and liven it up with seductive dancing. Sid finds Cassie, and they discuss her anorexia; she confesses she took pills earlier, then loses consciousness. Chris, Anwar, and Maxxie arrive. After Tony punches a posh boy, a fight breaks out. Sid runs in with an unconscious Cassie, stopping the brawl. The group, along with a Polish girl from the party, steal a Mercedes and drive Cassie to the hospital, where she wakes up. They then drive to the harbour. While parked, Sid accidentally hits the handbrake, and the car rolls into the water, destroying the three ounces of weed. The group, except for Chris and the Polish girl, climb out of the submerged car and walk home.
